Educational institutions have an ethical obligation to the Native nations on whose homelands they exist; the Native communities with whom they share their region; and their Native students, faculty, and staff. As a non-Native scholar, I train students and advise colleagues on how to work with Native communities informed by an understanding of tribal sovereignty and a commitment to reciprocity. I create opportunities, platforms, and spaces for Native people – scholars, artists, activists, and community leaders – to share their work and amplify their voices.
